The International Topical Meeting on Industrial Radiation and Radioisotope Measurement Applications (IRRMA) is a triennial event organized with the purpose of bringing together scientists and engineers from around the world who share an interest in radiation and radioisotope measurement applications. Professor Robin P. Gardner of North Carolina State University was the founder of the IRRMA series of topical meetings and chaired the first and fourth meetings.

IRRMA-11 is being organized by the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Alma Mater Sudiorum University University of Bologna. It will be held at the Belmeloro Complex in the heart of downtown Bologna, Italy from July 23-28, 2023.

It is devoted to current trends and potential future issues involving radiation and radioisotopes. The technical sessions will include invited lectures by leading experts in their fields, contributed oral papers and poster presentations of contributed papers. Attendees will have an opportunity to share ideas on industrial uses of radiation and radioisotopes, and also on research and applications in related fields such as Biomedical Applications of Radiation, Art and Cultural Heritage, Monte Carlo Methods and Models, Radiation in Environmental Sciences, Detection of Threat Material and Contraband, Radiation Protection, Shielding and Dosimetry, Radiation Effects on Materials, Radiation Detection and Measurements, and other topics.

During IRMMA-11, in addition to the dedicated session(s) scheduled in the conference programme, a satellite workshop of the IIFP is organized. The International Initiative on X-ray Fundamental Parameters (IIFP) was created as an expression of common interest in the improvement of X-ray FPs (i.e. data related to the interactions of X-rays with matter) in a joint effort of national metrology institutes, academic laboratories and industrial companies. The main motivation of the IIFP is to overcome the uneven quality and incompleteness of current X-ray FPs, which constitute a serious limitation for further progress of X-ray technologies applied in many fields such as basic physics, nanomaterials, biomedical and environmental sciences. In the past, FPs such as ionization and scattering cross sections, fluorescence yields, transition probabilities have been discussed and relevant experimental techniques and theoretical calculations have been implemented for their determination. Under the auspices of the European X-ray Spectrometry Association (EXSA), the IIFP holds annual or bi-annual workshops where experts discuss the results of recent studies, and suggest future coworks. New attendees are more than welcome.

We hope you will join us!
